Happiness can exist only in acceptance. Losing someone can be pretty awful; and only with acceptance can there be recovery. This song talks about how it's okay to have someone on your mind once they're gone: be it your lover, your friend, your pet, or even your family. You have to overcome the torment, and make peace with yourself and the fact that they are not coming back in your life again. Hold your ground and break through.

In the heart of Mumbai, the band Alchemy, comprising Aniruddha, Ankit, Yash, and Nilesh, initiated a creative collaboration with our studio for their song "Woh Nahin Aayenge." The band shared a poignant incident that inspired the song—an encounter at a dhaba where Aniruddha and Yash, returning from an event, met a small dog. Despite a short rendezvous, a heartwarming connection was forged, leaving an indelible mark when the dog attempted to follow them upon departure, triggering profound emotions that birthed the song. Upon receiving this heartfelt brief, our studio engaged in extensive discussions and planning. We proposed an expanded version of the band's encounter, envisioning the band meeting the dog at a remote dhaba in a middle-of-nowhere setting. The storyline weaved a day-long interaction, fostering a more profound bond between the band and the dog. This enriched narrative aimed to resonate deeply with the audience by showcasing the development of a heartfelt connection over the course of a day Alchemy resonated with the studio's expanded script, acknowledging the enhanced emotional depth and relatability. Their approval ignited the project, giving the green light to commence the journey of crafting the music video
The creation of characters for 'Woh Nahin Aayenge' involved meticulous design processes and inspiration drawn from French animation aesthetics. Our team endeavored to encapsulate the essence of the band members and the furry companion encountered at the dhaba.
Each band member, Aniruddha, Ankit, Yash, and Nilesh, was envisioned as a character in the music video, mirroring their real-life counterparts. Emphasizing simplicity, the designs bore limited lines on the faces, intending to capture their distinctive traits and personalities in a minimalist yet expressive manner
The design of the small dog portrayed in the video aimed to resonate emotionally with viewers. Through simplicity and subtle expressions, the dog's design mirrored its heartwarming qualities and the emotional connection shared with the band.
To enrich the narrative, our team introduced a character—a dhaba owner. This character was carefully crafted to complement the storyline, adding depth and resonance to the band's encounter at the dhaba
Drawing inspiration from French animation aesthetics, particularly those seen in films created at institutions like Gobelins, the team aimed to capture a similar charm and elegance in the music video's visuals. The decision to set the video in the outskirts of Mumbai, amidst a mustard field, was a deliberate choice to create a picturesque landscape filled with vibrant colors. The mustard field provided a canvas of yellow flowers against a backdrop of blue skies and lush greenery, establishing a cohesive color tone throughout the film. The use of buttoneyed characters further contributed to the simplicity and whimsy of the overall look and feel, aligning with the desired aesthetic inspired by French animation. Crafting the setting of the dhaba involved multiple iterations to achieve the desired design. Additionally, the inclusion of a van for the band members required extensive vehicle scouting to find the perfect match. Through meticulous attention to detail and dedication to authenticity, the team ensured that every aspect of the visual storytelling in "Woh Nahin Aayenge" contributed to its unique and captivating aesthetic.
By assigning each band member role to a specific artist, the team ensured that the character acting remained consistent throughout the animation process. Our Art Director, Ram, transitioned to Nilesh, while our Pre-production Director assumed the role of Aniruddha. Anandhakrishnan, our animator, took on the name Yash, and our intern, Kiran, became Ankit. The rest of us moved behind the camera. Visakh portrayed the Dhaba owner, albeit for just one scene. But due to the limited budget we had to keep the animation in 4s and 5s. The behind-the-scenes footage available on the studio's YouTube channel offers a glimpse into the fun and effort that went into the making of "Woh Nahin Aayenge.
From the initial spark of inspiration to the final frame, every step of the process was a testament to the power of creativity and collaboration. We are immensely proud of the result and grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Alchemy on this meaningful project. As we look to the future, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of storytelling and animation, and we eagerly await the next chapter in our creative journey.
