In the world of film, title credits animation serves as the opening act, setting the stage for the story that is about to unfold. At our animation studio, based in India, we had the privilege of working on the title credits animation for "Enthaada Saji," a captivating film from the Malayalam film industry. In this blog post, we'll delve into the creative process behind this project, exploring its storyline, characters, visual design, animation techniques, and collaboration with the movie team for audio elements.

"Enthaada Saji" revolves around the life of a girl who has a unique ability to communicate with a saint that only she can see. For the title credits animation, we decided to depict the girl's journey with her little dog across different places and timelines, encountering various saints along the way. The animation serves as a visual introduction to the film, setting the stage for the audience.
The main characters in "Enthaada Saji" include the Little Girl, her loyal dog, and four different saints: St. Antony, St. Sebastian, St. George, and St. Roch. Each character was meticulously designed to reflect their personality and role within the story. The Little Girl is portrayed as a bubbly and empathetic character, while her dog is curious and funloving. The saints are depicted with reverence, maintaining simplicity and consistency in their designs.
Drawing inspiration from our animation director, Visakh VM, we opted for a style that featured minimal colors and button eyes for the characters. The backgrounds were designed to evoke the feel of old parchment, adding a sense of nostalgia to the animation. Each timeline was distinguished by a specific color palette, enhancing the visual storytelling aspect of the animation
To ensure consistency and efficiency in the animation process, we utilized the Y Brush in Adobe Animate. Additionally, we assigned specific characters to individual animators, allowing each animator to focus on bringing their assigned character to life with consistency and unique flair. This approach helped maintain coherence in the animation while accommodating the varying skill levels within our team.
The storyboard for "Enthaada Saji" was crafted based on the script provided by the film's director, Godfy Xavier. Clear direction from the director allowed us to translate the script into visual sequences effectively. During the animatic edit, we trimmed certain shots to ensure that the title credits animation fit within the designated timeframe of two minutes.
While our team handled the animation aspect of "Enthaada Saji," the audio elements, including music and sound design, were managed by the movie team. This collaborative approach ensured that the audio complemented the visual storytelling seamlessly, enhancing the overall cinematic experience for the audience.
"Enthaada Saji" presented us with an exciting opportunity to showcase our creativity and expertise in title credits animation. Through meticulous character design, visual storytelling, and collaboration with the movie team, we were able to bring the opening act of the film to life in a captivating and engaging manner. We hope that this case study offers valuable insights into the art of title credits animation and inspires fellow creatives in the animation industry
